Fat Yak Kayaks are manufactured in Somerset, England, by real enthusiasts who live and breathe kayaking. They are constructed from high grade polyethylene and are corrosion resistant as well as utilising the latest UV stabilisation technology to minimise colour fade and maintain strength. They are a single piece rotationally moulded design so there are no seams or joints, which gives unbeatable strength and water tightness, and they are all manufactured in accordance to BS7852.

All Fat Yaks feature superb moulding and the fittings are of the highest standard. They have sleek and stylish lines and their light weight make them a breeze to move around and load onto a car roof rack single-handed. Everything on a Fat Yak kayak is of top quality and there is a certain design flair and attention to detail that you simply don't seem to get from many of the other manufacturers.
In addition to being a Fat Yak dealership we also hire these amazing kayaks out from our Beach Activities Centre in Worthing so we have first-hand experience of living with them on a day-to-day basis. We need kayaks that are tough, safe, and easy to paddle and the Fat Yak range fits the bill perfectly. Children as young as 6 can handle them with ease and we have even had adults weighing over 20 stone singing their praises and commenting on their amazing stability. They're so stable that we've even caught people standing up in them and using them as Stand-Up-Paddleboards! The build quality and robustness of Fat Yaks are second to none, but they are also compact and light enough to be carried up and down the beach by one person thanks to the handy grab handles and the minimal overall weight.
As you can imagine, our Fat Yak hire fleet gets very used and abused. They spend all day getting bumped and scraped up and down the rocks and pebbles on Worthing Beach and then they have to sit in the blazing sun for hours on end covered in salt water. Despite all of this, we are always amazed to see how each kayak still looks so good at the end of each day. The colours are always fresh and the toughness of the hulls means that even after extensive use there are only very minor abrasions to the underside but nothing more serious than that. We've even accidentally dropped a few of them from the top bunk of our kayak trailer straight onto the shingle beach and they literally just bounce!
So, if you live in the UK and your beach is mostly rocks and shingle like ours then these are definitely the kayaks for you.

Sport sit-on-top kayaks are one of the most popular and successful
in Europe. BIC have already spent decades building excellent Windsurfing
equipment and Surfboards using highly advanced plastic materials
and revolutionary techniques and they have now successfully applied
their extensive skills and learnings to the world of kayaks.
What sets BIC apart
from many of the other sit-on-top kayak manufacturers is the technology
they use in their construction. BIC employ a proprietary Twin
Sheet Technology to form their kayaks out of high quality sheets
of polyethylene. Unlike roto-moulded kayaks, BIC makes their boats
from precisely calibrated sheets of quality plastic that are then
heated and moulded into the shape of the hull and deck, and then
heat welded together to make an immensely strong one piece cylinder.
As a result of this
process, the chemical make-up of the plastic and the thickness
of material is completely uniform, which is not always the case
with roto-moulding. In layman's terms, this means that BIC Kayaks
are consistently solid and have a noticeably superior visual appearance
BIC's hull design
is known as Tri Hull Design, which features the same hull characteristics
as a Trimaran. This gives all BIC Kayaks great performance given
each model's particular design brief and the unique construction
process gives the boats a classic look and the feel of a solid
and sea-worthy vessel.
All BIC kayaks are self-bailing, allowing for easy and reliable self-rescue should you need it, or easy mounting and dismounting if you're snorkeling, diving, or swimming. In addition, there is no cocoon-like cockpit to become stuck in or to fill with water, which is another advantage of the sit-on-top design.
The BIC range of Kayaks are made to accept lifelines running down each gunwale, which is an excellent safety feature. These lifelines give swimmers a place to grab onto and can also be used to assist in righting and re-entering the kayak in deep water (in windy conditions, Kayaks can actually blow downwind faster than you can swim, so these are a great safety feature). In addition, the lifelines provide an excellent place for gear to be tied onto and could be of great use to snorkelers and free divers.
There are jump seats on every one of their kayaks to enable a child (or even a dog!) to hitch a lift. You may miss these at first glance or mistake them for hatch covers, but they are very handy little seats that enable you to share a paddle with a friend (either 2 or 4 legged!).
